AMOK, THE THEATRE PLAY THAT ENCHANTED PARIS

One night in March 1912, on the deck of a ship dashing towards Europe. While other passengers laugh, have fun and dance, a man shies away. He bears a secret that has become too heavy for him and will unburden himself from it in the dark. This young doctor is running away from Malaysia where he has worked for five years, in the middle of the jungle, until a mysterious woman came to ask for help … A feverish tale of a race against death where passion mingles with madness, where the obsession over a woman is similar to the amok, this sudden fit of murderous rampage.
The curtain has come down. On the red seats of the Théâtre de Poche in Montparnasse, the audience, overwhelmed, is clapping endlessly, applauding Alexis Moncorgé, who won the Molière award in 2016 for his performance in Amok, following the steps of his grandfather, famous French actor Jean Gabin. The play is now coming back to its root, Malaysia, not in the tropical jungle but the capital, for two exclusive performances.
